4 Foreign Countries That Speaks Igbo Language

It will interest you to know that it is not only Nigerians that speak Igbo, Yoruba and even Hausa… the speakers of these languages are not even related to any Nigerians in other countries.
Today, over 40 million people speaks this language and it has managed to spread oversees years ago as enslaved Igbo people were traded throughout various slave colonies. These colonies were in the United States, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Belize, Barbados, and the Bahamas.

I’m going to show you countries that speak Igbo as their main language.
1. Equatorial Guinea: Igbo is spoken in Equatorial Guinea where it is regarded as a minority language.
2. Caribbean Island: Caribbean indigenes speak Igbo and Yoruba languages fluently, even though they are not related to any Nigerians. A foremost entertainer and music maestro, Tar Ukoh, says many people in the area speak Igbo and Yoruba of the 13th century. Till now he says, the Yorubas still play and enjoy their traditional Yoruba songs, while the Igbos feature their nmanwu, agaba and ekpe masquerades.
From those masquerades, they fashioned out a brand of music they call Wawanco. Their ancestors too were the exponents of the popular Calypso music which is an adulteration of Ka anyi soo nmanwu (let’s join the masquerade troupe).
3. Cameroon: Cameroon also speaks Igbo and it is recorded that about 110,000 people of Cameroon speaks Igbo as their main language according to Evangeliser’s statistics.
4. Jamaicans: In Jamaica the Igbo were often referred to as Eboe or Ibo… Igbo people were taken in relatively high numbers to Jamaica as slaves, so it's no surprise that there's some Igbo language in the Jamaican Patois language.
In Jamaica, “red eboe” is used to describe people with light skin tones with African features. They also celebrate what is called “jonkonu Yam festival” popularly know among Nigerian Igbos as “New Yam Festival”.
Jonkonnu is a masquerade festival held in Jamaica which is attributed to the Njoku Ji or “yam-spirit cult”, Okonko and Ekpe of the Igbo.
Other Igbo speaking countries are: The Dominican Republic, Cuba, Belize, Barbados, and the Bahamas.

Popular Nigerian musician David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido, has asked the federal government to return the sum of N500 million donated by his father Deji Adeleke to fight Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country

The singer made the statement on his Twitter page on Wednesday

Recall that few days ago the father of the famous singer made a pledge of N500 million to the Nigerian government to help fight Covid-19 in the state.

A Ghanaian actress, Fella Makafui has collapsed during her traditional marriage and was rushed to the hospital.
She collapsed during her traditional marriage ceremony to Medikal.
Makafui was said to have collapsed while she was on the dance floor with her husband, Medikal.
The bride has been rushed to the hospital to seek medical attention, GHPAGE reports.
It was later learnt that she came back to complete the engagement ceremony after she recuperated.
“Fella Makafui has regained consciousness and back to her engagement party!”, wrote Jackie Black, an entertainment journalist.
Makafui, born 19 August, 1995 in Volta Region, Ghana, is a Ghanaian actress and a philanthropist. She is known mostly for her role in ‘Yolo,’ Ghanaian TV series
Makafui started her career as a model, she later went into acting which brought her to limelight when she starred in the popular Yolo (You Only Live Once) television series.
Fella was featured in a couple movies like Swings, Once upon a family, Kanda River and Chaskele. In once upon a family, Fella got to work alongside Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson who played the lead role. She is currently the new ambassador of Castle gate Estate.

Popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky, has reportedly been detained at a police station in Lagos state.

According to reports, the controversial celebrity’s best friend, Tonto Dikeh is nowhere to be found at the moment.

Recalls the cross-dresser had engaged in a feud with his business partner, Cynthia over the ownership of his Bob wings business.

The lady claimed she contacted the cross-dresser to help her market her goods worth 22.5 million naira, which the controversial celebrity eventually did, but he converted the sum of 7 million naira into his personal account.

Cynthia filed a lawsuit and ordered for Bobrisky’s arrest and questioning over the missing fund.

The legendary Nigerian musician Tuface Innocent idibia professionally known as 2Baba continues his 20 Years A King campaign with this project.

The 13-tracks project will make his first album in the past five years and it is indeed worth the wait.

Burna Boy, Wizkid, Peruzzi, Tiwa Savage, Syemca, Hi Idibia and Olamide were the guest features on the album.

Can you imagine Nollywood without Chinwetalu Agu?

He is the only Nigerian actor that always spices up his movie roles with hilarious slangs created by him to throw fans off balance with laughter. Example is "Parish Priest ewelu ego bazaar mee MMM".

Chinwetalu Agu is known for his wicked roles in movies, but this man has a heart of gold. He has been acting non stop since 1981 and has won over 50 awards in his 38 years of being in the movie industry.

Many Nigerians are interested in Chinwetalu Agu's personal life - they want to know abou his wife and children but it is a real secret for everybody! And today I will tell you why.

CHINWETALU AGU'S WIFE AND CHILDREN

Actor Chinwetalu Agu is happily married to his wife Nkechi Agu and together, they have 5 children - 3 sons and 2 daughters.

Before Chinwetalu got married to his wife, Nkechi, the comedian said in an interview that he faced a lot of challenges but he is grateful to God for giving him the woman of his dreams..

Chinwetalu said in an interview with Vanguard:

"I met my wife, Nkechi in Lagos. She hails from Mbaise, Imo State.

My kinsman; Jeffrey Agu, a former police officer, then saw my wife in one of the Pentecostal churches in Olodi, Apapa, where he had gone to worship.

When he returned home, because he was living with me at that time, he told me that he had seen a wife for me. This was after I had rejected many women.

I remember how each time I went to a man of God with names of women to ascertain if anyone of them would be my wife, the answer had not always been favourable. But when I met my wife, I immediately fell in love with her.

I brought her to my house in Idumota and, within one month, I got her pregnant.

She was afraid that I would behave like some of the young men who would deny whenever they impregnate women. But the reverse was the case. When she told me that she was pregnant for me, I cuddled her, kissed her and put her on my laps.

I said to her, ‘So from you I would become a father. I would celebrate you.’ That was it. Today, God has blessed us with five children, three boys and two girls. My children too are very brilliant kids. So, I’m grateful to God.

There was nothing like courtship because I married late. I had no time for courtship.

I married late because I was busy taking my sick father around, looking for cure to his eye problem.

I had travelled home to find my father blind. It took me one year to use orthodoxy means to find solution to his ailment.

For six months, I booked him for prayer all to no avail. At a point, my age mates at home and abroad were advising me each time they returned home to leave my father to his fate.

They urged me to go out there and look for my own future. They said “my father has lived his own life and I should go out there and live mine”.

I was the only child out of his eight children that was taking care of him.

There was a woman my father wanted me to marry.

She was the Chief Protocol Officer at the old Anambra State. But because she was older than me, I told my father that there was no way I would marry a woman who was older and richer than me.

It would mean enslaving myself forever. But my father insisted, believing that she would be of great help to me.

Reluctantly, I visited the woman one day. And while I was in her house, there was power interruption, and she asked a young man who was taller than me to go and change the power source to generator.

The young man happened to be a son she had out of wedlock. However, after I made my intention known to her, she promised to think about. While leaving her house, I made up my mind that I would never to go there again.

Today, God has compensated me and I am a father of five children.

My wife enjoys watching my comedy roles in movies more than anybody else across the world. She would laugh uncontrollably as if she has won a raffle draw. And she has vowed that in her next world, she will marry me."

CHINWETALU AGU'S CHILDREN:

There is no information about Chinwetalu Agu's children on the internet because their father is pretty protective of his family and doesn't want to spread much information about his children. There are no pictures of his children online, not even their names.

Back in 2017, Nollywood actor Elvis Chibuikem was mistaken by a lot of people to be Chinwetalu Agu's son.

This was because Elvis looks like Chinwetalu and also talks and acts exactly like him.

The truth however is that Elvis is not related to Chinwetalu.

Elvis Chibuikem is originally from Rivers state, Southern part of Nigeria. and in 2018. his own father, late Sir Gregory Chibuikem Echeozor (Mpa Timoooo) died at the age of 77 years.
